Don’t look behind the curtain!

In the run up to Christmas, Drapehire, our sister company, was commissioned to provide drapery to the main corridor at Ashridge.  This is a stunning venue, set in 190 acres of gardens and parkland, and majestically nestled in surrounding National Trust woodland.  This spectacular country house has a right history spanning over 700 years.  Once a monastery for Benedictine monks, it became a residence for the children of King Henry VIII, and then passed into the hands of the dukes and earls of Bridgewater, finally to become the home of Ashridge Business School.

As you can see by the before and after photos, the main corridor is currently being completely refurbished.   This was a concern for the management for the forthcoming Christmas wedding as this is the only internal route to and from the toilets and guest bedrooms!

Drapehire arrived at 6.00pm on Friday 21 December 2012 after the builders had departed to install and by 2.00am on Saturday morning the 30 metre corridor and roof had been draped and up-lights positioned at intervals.  The wedding party had no idea what lay overhead and behind.

Drapehire returned on Sunday at noon to de-rig and the builders were back in at 4.00pm to continue the refurbishment.

A close shave but everyone was happy!
