Choosing a wedding venue used to simply be based on where you lived and the various venues available nearby. Now the search for your perfect wedding venue can take you far and wide. From the local village hall all the way across the world to a deserted tropical beach.

Various Wedding Venues

When choosing your wedding venue there are some important things to take into consideration, we recommend:

Thinking practically

A tropical island may seem appealing, but if your family and friends are unable to take time off work and travel across the globe then this may not be practical – (unless an escape is what you are after).

Visiting the venue

Make sure the venue lives up to pictures on the website. Visit the venue at the time of your wedding to check noise from traffic, the temperature of the room and the natural light available, this will help you to plan the rest of your day.

Choosing a Theme

Decide the feel/theme you would like at your wedding and choose a venue which can accommodate this. Choose your style early on and then choose a venue and decorations based on this. A quirky look with coloured lanterns maybe your style, or perhaps a more minimalist look with traditional warm fairy lights around the venue is what you’re after.

Finding out What You Need

Most often venues are able to supply the regular accessories you need for your wedding, including in house catering, table plan and table decorations. When you’re choosing event suppliers, ask the venue who has worked there before and who they would recommend for each task?

Your ‘event co-ordinator’ will be your contact before and possibly on the day of your wedding, (importantly they will have a history and direct dealings with these suppliers, will have seen their work and know how punctual and efficient they and their staff are) Many venues have a preferred suppliers list, this is partly to protect the venue from unscrupulous individuals who may damage the decoration, be unreliable, untraceable and uninsured.

Party Lights are listed under categories such as lighting hire, fairy lights, venue decoration and drape hire. We have worked very hard since 2002, to gain a first class reputation and are proud to be on many preferred supplier lists. And of course, most important for us is the incentive to continue to be the best, to ensure we remain on these lists for future bookings.

Asking Questions

‘there’s no such thing as a stupid question’ so ask anything and everything you can think of, from cost, capacity to what they are able to provide for your guests. The more questions you ask the more informed your decision will be for your special day.
